BRISTOL CITY COUNCIL LOOKS AT BRINGING BACK BONFIRE NIGHT FIREWORKS

Andrew Simmonds is an enthusiastic Western Round Table member who has been organizing charity fireworks display in Downend. None the less he is disappointed with the British City Councils wishes to offer a free fireworks event.

The annual fireworks event that takes place at the Harbour Festival will be now moved to the Downs. This free firework display is bound to take place on the 5th of November 2011.

At the same time the other charity displays will be drastically affected with this. Since the fact being is that post this free display everyone would rather prefer watching a firework display for free then pay for the same. Since the event is charity based, all the proceedings would go for the same.

But if people expect to attend for free then no charity funds would thus be gathered. This will in turn affect many a charitable causes negatively. Volunteers from the Bristol Round Table and the Rotary Club of Clifton would earlier offer a firework display at the Downs.

This was eventually stopped in the year 2008 as they ran into big loses. In this year of 2010, nearly 50,000 people watched a fireworks display over a three-day event which saw the coming together of 250,000 people in total.

“I (HEART) BOOBIES!” BANNED NO MORE

A student was suspended from the Junction City high school. This was after wearing the “I (heart) boobies!” breast cancer charity bracelets. These items like the “I (heart) boobies!” bracelets and T-Shirts support the Keep A Breast Foundation.

Keep A Breast Foundation is a Non-Pofit Organization which works for the benefit of women suffering from breast cancer. The organization works with the youth and creates awareness among them. Post the students’ suspension, the American Civil Liberties Union was furious and complained against it. The district attorney Mark Edwars saw to it that the matter was resolved right away and the student suffers no more.

The ACLU was also sent due notification assuring them of the same. He has also seen to it that the Junction City High School takes the student back from suspension. The student Stephen Wall will be back in school and without facing any problems.

In the mean while the other students may as well continue wearing the bracelets and T-Shirts as they are in regards a Nobel cause like the Keep A Breast Foundation. Incidentally, Wall had got a two day suspension and was also told to do community service. This was after still wearing the wristband in spite of getting a warning from the school authorities to either stop wearing the band or for that matter flip it over.
